Return HomeCore Strengths
What we prioritize in our service approach
Calibre-Specific Knowledge
We maintain reference documentation for ETA, Sellita, and Valjoux movements, allowing us to service them according to manufacturer specifications rather than guesswork.
Transparent Communication
You'll receive clear explanations of findings, written estimates before work begins, and updates if additional issues emerge during service.
Realistic Timelines
We provide honest turnaround estimates that account for proper cleaning, part replacement, and multi-day regulation periods.
Clear Pricing Structure
Service costs are presented upfront: MYR 680 for hairspring work, MYR 2,600 for complete calibre servicing, MYR 190 for insurance appraisals.
No-Pressure Consultations
Initial examinations are conducted without sales tactics. You're welcome to consider our recommendations or seek additional opinions.
Accessible Location
Our Jalan Imbi workshop is conveniently located for consultations, drop-offs, and collection during regular business hours.
Experience with Swiss Calibres
Our workshop focuses on Swiss movements from manufacturers like ETA, Sellita, and Valjoux. These calibres appear in watches from many different brands, and we've developed familiarity with their architecture through repeated servicing. We maintain technical documentation that specifies proper lubrication points, acceptable tolerances for various components, and common wear patterns to check during inspection.
This calibre-specific knowledge allows us to service these movements methodically rather than relying on general principles that may not apply to a particular design. When we examine an ETA 2824-2, we know which jewels tend to show wear first, where magnetisation commonly occurs, and what the acceptable beat error range should be after regulation.
Methodical Service Process
Watch servicing benefits from a structured approach. We follow a consistent sequence: initial examination and cost estimate, full disassembly once approved, ultrasonic cleaning of components, inspection against calibre specifications, replacement of worn parts, reassembly with proper lubrication at each point, and regulation conducted over several days to ensure stability.
This process takes time — typically two to three weeks for a complete service — but rushing through any step tends to produce problems later. A watch that seems properly regulated after one day may drift significantly after temperature changes or positional shifts. We allow for multiple regulation sessions to catch these issues before the watch is returned.
Clear, Honest Communication
When you bring a watch to us, we'll examine it and explain what we find in plain language. If the hairspring has a coil touching an adjacent turn, we'll show you why that's causing timing issues and describe what correction would involve. If the movement would benefit from a complete service but could also function adequately with a simpler intervention, we'll present both options with their tradeoffs.
We don't recommend work that isn't needed. If your watch simply requires adjustment rather than part replacement, we'll say so. If an issue is beyond our scope — such as a proprietary complication or a movement we haven't worked with — we'll recommend sending it to the manufacturer's service centre rather than attempting work we're not equipped to handle.
Transparent Pricing
Our service pricing is straightforward. Hairspring corrections are MYR 680, complete Swiss calibre servicing is MYR 2,600, and insurance appraisals are MYR 190. These prices reflect the time and expertise involved in each type of work. If your watch requires parts beyond standard wear items — such as a replacement balance wheel or escape wheel — we'll provide a specific cost for those components before ordering them.
There are no hidden fees or unexpected charges. The estimate we provide is the cost you'll pay unless additional work becomes necessary, in which case we'll contact you for approval before proceeding.
Focus on Stable Performance
Our goal is to return your watch in stable working condition. After servicing, we conduct regulation over multiple days, checking performance in different positions and after temperature changes. We aim for timing accuracy that will hold reasonably steady through normal daily wear — typically within a few seconds per day variance.
You'll receive a record of the final timing figures, showing rate in different positions and the amplitude reading. This documentation serves as a baseline for future reference, helping you notice if the watch begins to drift significantly and may need attention again.

Aggressive sales tactics pushing for complete overhauls when simpler work would suffice
Rushed turnarounds that skip proper regulation periods
Unclear pricing with surprise charges appearing at collection
Generic servicing approaches without calibre-specific knowledge
silkpivopmy's Approach
Clear explanations of findings with visual inspection when helpful
Honest recommendations about what work is actually needed
Realistic timelines that allow for proper multi-day regulation
Written estimates provided before work begins, no surprise costs
Calibre-specific servicing based on manufacturer documentation
What Makes Us Different
We Specialize Rather Than Generalize
Many repair shops attempt to service any watch that comes through the door. We focus specifically on Swiss calibres we have experience with — ETA, Sellita, Valjoux — and refer other movements to more suitable providers. This specialization allows us to maintain detailed knowledge and proper tooling for these movements rather than spreading expertise too thin.
We Acknowledge What We Don't Know
If your watch contains a complication we haven't worked with, or if it requires specialized tools we don't maintain, we'll say so directly rather than attempting unfamiliar work. This protects both your watch and ensures you receive service from someone properly equipped. Honesty about limitations is part of responsible practice.
We Provide Written Service Records
After servicing, you receive documentation showing the work performed, parts replaced, and final timing figures in different positions. This creates a service history for your watch and provides a baseline for future reference. If timing begins to drift significantly from these recorded values, it may indicate a developing issue.
We're Available for Follow-Up Questions
After you collect your watch, you're welcome to contact us with questions about its performance or care. If you notice timing drift or unusual behavior, we'll discuss whether this is within normal variation or suggests something requiring attention. Post-service communication is part of the service rather than an imposition.
